A contemporary interior developed within the character and proportions of a traditional Victorian terrace.

The Brief

The project explores the transformation of a traditional Victorian terrace into a contemporary home while respecting the proportions and character of the original architecture.

The design focuses on function, flow and natural light, with a restrained palette of timber, stone, deep greens and warm neutrals. Original character and contemporary elements are deliberately balanced rather than replicated, creating an interior that feels connected to the building while responding to the way we live today.

The Concept

The concept is based on contrast — retaining the formality and proportions of the Victorian terrace while introducing a more relaxed and contemporary way of living.

Deep greens, natural timber, stone and textured finishes bring warmth and depth to the interior. Traditional references are used selectively, allowing contemporary joinery, lighting and furniture to sit comfortably within the existing architecture.

Rather than recreating a period interior, the intention is to create a home that feels layered, individual and appropriate to its setting.
